Font in French Fridays: Basic Commercial

Today’s Font in French is Basic Commercial, one of my absolute favorite fonts to use on my blog graphics. If I’m not mistaken, Nylon magazine uses this font on their pages as well!

02 FFF - Basic Commercial

Basic Commercial is a typeface that has been around since the 1900’s, but no one really knows who created this beautiful font, nonetheless it’s design cannot be overlooked, so much so that it later inspired a variety of grotesque fonts such as the famous Helvetica font, and Univers. This typeface has worked its way into many aspects of daily life and culture — Fun fact:  It became the face chosen for use in the New York City subway system’s signage.

You can buy Basic Commercial here.

This is interesting. My French is becoming rusty and I need to refresh. Lire is more common than bouquiner… this is actually my first time to encounter this word. Anyway, I prefer those that I can easily conjugate.

J’adore cette série. Vous continuez s’il vous plaît… merci!
