For The Love of Vintage: Triplets Getting A Haircut (1956)

Photographer Nina Leen perfectly captured these set of photos of triplets getting a haircut back in the 1950’s. I stumbled across these photos on the web, and was instantly so in love with them I just had to share them with you. I’ve always had an affinity towards anything vintage. I listen to music from era’s 40’s-80’s (Dad finds me extra cool because of this), watching period films, collecting old items (old records, a typewriter, hand me downs from my grandmother, a vintage travel bag, etc) — So if you’ve known me for a while, it wouldn’t come as a surprise that these photos by Nina Leen has captured my attention. (Girls Haircut by Nina Leen can be found in the Life photo archive)

girlshaircut1956ninaleen 2Gorgeous, aren’t they? It tells the perfect story of little girls turning into young women, in such a simple and effortless manner. The photos alone make me want to know more about these three young women, what they’re like, where they’re from, if they married and had children of their own. But that’s the beauty of vintage photographs, they’re worth a thousand words, yet they will always remain a beautiful mystery.

Here are the triplets years later, all grown up and doing a bit of modeling in the 60’s…

I hope you guys enjoyed these photos as much as I have! Hopefully I’ll be able to share more vintage photographs, or anything vintage for that matter, when I can! :)

Have a great Tuesday night!

This is beautiful! One day you’ll have your chance to show your grandchild the recent feature you did for a paper too (and more). Just like the girls in these pictures!

Aren’t they? and yeah, that’s true! :) I find that’s the one thing I wish I saw more of, photos of my grandmother during her youth and photos of her travels.

These photos and the whole post are so inspiring! I love vintage items and music etc too, I always look at photos of my grandma :) It’s so incredible to see the girls growing through the photos. You should make a ‘vintage section’ or something like that for your blog! x

Oh wow, such gorgeous photos! What a coincidence that I saw this today since I’m going to have my hair cut on Friday. :)

I’m tempted to get the cut of the twin in the middle (the one with the longer hair than the other two) but damn it, my hair doesnt wave that way naturally haha

Their after haircut photos made them look sort of androgynous and I love it! Then their modelling photos look really great and their outfits in the last photos are just so chic!! ♥ thanks for sharing this x

How I wish we still live in this era. Everyone just looks so classy, you could photograph anyone from the street and it could go straight to a magazine. Long live #LolaVibes! Hahahaha
