Beauty Review: L’Oreal Mat Magique

About two months ago, I received a package from L’Oreal Paris (Philippines) introducing their newest line of pressed powders called: “Loreal Mat Magique All-in-one Transformation Powder”, which is a matte face powder best used on people with oily or combination skin. I’m dry skinned, but sometimes when I’m out during the entire day and I start to sweat, you can bet your bottom-dollar that the oils on my face take center stage (t-zone area) and shine like no other.

Now, confession time: I never really use face powders. I never saw the point. Which is weird, considering I love makeup, right? Well, I was willing to give L’Oreal Mat Magique a shot — besides, I had nothing to lose. If it didn’t work out, no big deal. I’ll just let them know it’s not for me.

An overview of the product + my ratings:

  • 12-hour matte and shine free face (my personal rating: 4/5)
  • Flawless and full coverage (5/5 if placed over a sheer liquid foundation for true full coverage, 3.5/5 if powder alone — not enough to cover dark under-eyes and some spots)
  • Superior UV protection SPF 34/PA+++ (5/5 because a PA+++ rating means it’s the highest UV protection)

Mat Magique is available in five shades: R1 (Rose Ivory), N1 (Nude Ivory), N2 (Nude Vanilla), G1 (Vanilla Ivory), and G2 (Golden Ivory).

If you’re wondering what shade I am, I’m between a Nude Ivory and Rose Ivory. I can use either shade and it wouldn’t make a huge difference. I’m using Nude Ivory in the set of photos below:

My favorite thing about this product is that it actually does last a long time! Maybe not 12-hours exactly for most people, and unless you’re not doing any activities outside in the heat then it definitely could last 12 hours without retouching if you’ve got dry skin like me. And another favorite is that it’s only Php 499 while refills are only Php 399. It’s affordable and easy on the wallet. I would definitely purchase a refill once my powder runs out!

So, if you’re dealing with oily/combination skin and looking for the perfect affordable pressed powder for your face, or just looking for a great pressed powder that will last the entire day, Mat Magique is available in all L’Oreal Paris counters nationwide! :)

I am using this now and so far I love it! I included it in my latest post which is my daily makeup routine. It really does a great job keeping your face matte.

If your skin is peeling, that means you have dry skin! Exfoliate and then apply a really good moisturizer for dry skin :) I would recommend skin oils like Argan, but if you have oily skin then don’t use skin oils, just moisturizer for oily skin :)
