{ How I Killed My Hair }
Photo 1: I box dyed it a shade or two lighter. My hair is naturally dark ash brown.
Photo 2: Another box dye job, I think I used medium blonde to achieve a lighter brown… But because the box dye is “medium blonde”, the peroxide brought out the red undertones of my hair.
Photo 3: I forgot what color I used, but I definitely went a shade lighter once again…
Photo 4: Dyed my hair 2 shades lighter and then put over Manic Panic’s Infra Red (although this is more of the faded effect after a week or two!)
Photo 5: I started getting my hair done red professionally for the whole of 2012. Each touch up resulted in a vibrant red, and I went as Ariel for Halloween to fulfill a lifelong dream!
Photo 6: Got rid of the red, had the salon bleach it to a very ugly mess of yellow and orange. They toned it with an ash color because green cancels out red tones… I ended up with ash blonde that eventually turned into a muddy blonde.
Photo 7: I was using purple shampoo and some parts of my hair started toning out to light blonde!
Photo 8: After a month, I went back and got my hair bleached. It’s pale yellow on top and somewhat light yellow towards the bottom.
My hair is beyond fried, but not completely breaking off. I manage to make it seem healthy by doing treatments almost every night, using a shit ton of coconut oil. Sometimes it’s smooth to the touch because of all the silicone in the products I use, but sometimes it also feels like Barbie’s hair, which isn’t really cool. Haha
If any of you plan to bleach your hair like I did, I’m gonna warn you now, it’s not a completely fun, especially if you dont have patience dealing with ruined/damaged/effed up hair!
But I’ve crossed that bridge. I’ve made my bed, and now I’m gonna lie in it! I’m getting a trim tomorrow, and I’m pretty sure the salon will cut off more than I originally want, because salons LOVE to do that. Whatever, though. My hair seems to grow back pretty quick (my roots are back and I’ve to go bleach them soon too)…
