Travel Vlog: El Nido Palawan

el nido vlog

Trying my hand at vlogging, so please bear with me if the video isn’t very cohesive or the transitions are weird. I struggled a bit to vlog during the trip because I would sometimes forget or the footage wouldn’t look very good. I’ll eventually get better. :-P I hope you guys enjoy this vlog because I find that it’s so very different from a blog post. With a vlog, you can really get to see the images from my previous El Nido blog post come to life and even get snippets of moments I never captured through photos. :-)

Comments/suggestions/ideas on how to improve my vlogs would be greatly appreciated! I hope you like it :-)

love it! Sometimes the camera is a little shaky, but I have no idea how one would even fix that, haha.

Yeah actually that was my issue too! Its hard because i dont have the equipment to keep it stabilized while filming. Haha Gab and I tried to figure out a way but i dont know! My camera might be too heavy

Is this a practice vlog for your Eurotrip? Haha It’s nice that you actually do vlog updates during stopovers! The sound seemed a bit off at 0:45 though. Everything’s great other than that!

I think that part was inside the plane which is SUPER noisy :(((( also outside the plane was suepr noisy. Anything involving the plane actually :)) but thanks! :D

great job, Camie! :) Looks like you really enjoyed during your trip! The shaky camera kinda adds to the feel of me going on the trip so I think thats okay. Just not too much. :)

Oh and I hope you’ll be able to sort out your passport issue and be ready for your eurotrip. All the best!

Hahaha! Wasn’t much of a challenge than I first expected it to be! :))

I loved the feel of this vlog! Like most have mentioned, it’s a little shaky, but that just comes with practice.
I enjoyed the general feel of everything, like we were really on the trip, too. Definitely keep it up!

Thanks Gemma!! I heard stabilizing the camera does come with practice so I hope I get to get the hang of it by the time my Eurotrip comes. Haha

Love this vlog, Camie! You honestly made me regret na I didn’t take videos of my Masasa Beach trip in Tingloy, Batangas. It’s one non-cliché place you guys should definitely check out!! The Hostel you guys stayed btw is so nice!!!

    • Reply Camie Juan 23 August 2015 at 12:43 am

Now you know to always whip out your camera to take videos ;-) I’ve never heard of Tingloy! So far we’ve only really been to Lobo and that’s because Gab has a house there so the trip becomes waaaay cheaper. Hahaha

Enjoyed seeing the photos come to life! I think what I can suggest is to record still shots. I know when you’re in the moment you just want to capture everything so you tend to just pan and pan. That’s okay but it’s nice to have still clips too, if you know what I mean. HAHA. As for the shakiness of the video, Jorge told me to “detach the arm from the body.” HAHA. I’m not exactly sure how to do that but I think what he means is for us to make the arm loose so even when we’re walking the shots won’t look too shaky. Also, walk slowly and kind of walk with the legs bent para may support yung landing ng feet. I hope that makes sense. Jorge is a filmmaker/videographer so he knows stuff. And if you’re going to pan, pan slowly but not too slow din. El Nido looks so beautiful! I want to visit it one day!

Thanks for the tips Jorge!!! I’ll keep it in mind. I hope my Eurotrip vlogs wont be as shitty hahaha

Aw thanks Elisha <3 By October I think the weather will be better! Crossing my fingers for you, for sunny days and cool nights with zero rain! Haha

Hi camie! I really enjoyed your vlog!! On entries like this (experiences and all) I think it’s really better than the usual blog entries cos we get to see you in the moment haha! Ang spontaneous lang ng thoughts and all and hey, it’s like you brought us with you to Palawan hahaha! Hope you do more vlogs soon :-)

    • Reply Camie Juan 23 August 2015 at 12:41 am

I’m glad you think so, cause I agree! I absolutely love blog posts but I feel a vlog adds to the entire experience :)

Hi! What camera did you use for this? If you used a DSLR, it’s quite heavy to for handheld filming and what my team does is if the camera has a strap, they place it over their necks and pull it as far away as the strap goes, while countering the force, then shoot. It’s a strain and you’ll look weird but it works! Hahaha. But if you want to invest in equipment, there are monopods small stabilizers fit for point-and-shoot cameras and also DSLRs. :)

    • Reply Camie Juan 21 August 2015 at 10:28 pm

I actually learned that strap trick earlier when i googled!! Haha it works nga :) as for stabilizers, i bought one from amazon but it wasnt good enough for my compact fuji slr. The problem with my fuji is that the lens is what makes it heavy haha

I went to a local festival three weeks ago and I tried vlogging. It was SOOO hard, especially when you’re around so many people and you’re not sure how many of them are comfortable with being in front of the camera and being on Youtube. I ended up with footage from the performances because that was all I could do. So much respect for all the Youtube vloggers who do it full time, and the ones who do it every single day!

    • Reply Camie Juan 23 August 2015 at 12:48 am

I agree! I dont know how vloggers do it but I guess it just takes some getting used to. My problem isn’t vlogging, it’s remembering to vlog and capture stuff on film! Haha Hoping I can make it an automatic reaction the way I take photos on my phone/camera for the blog or instagram/twitter/fb posts.

good luck on having your passport renewed! i heard even the rush option takes 3 weeks to process even though it says 10 days T__T.

    • Reply Camie Juan 24 August 2015 at 6:02 pm

Yeah, but also some people said they even got theirs earlier, they just had to call! I hope it doesn’t take three weeks since mine is apparently a different case than passport renewal. :)

    Hi Camie,

I’m really inspired by your blog, it’s so artsy and organized at the same time. Can you make a blog about starting a blog and how to manage it? If you have the time.

I love you Camie! You’re so gorg

  • Reply Julia 9 January 2016 at 1:38 pm

Hi Camie. Just saw your vlogs and I’m a bit curious, what camera are you using for you videos as well as your photos? I’m looking for a dlsr that’s lightweight maybe you could suggest some. Thank you! Stay wonderful x

For El Nido I mostly used my iPhone. But after that I bought a Canon G7Xfor my vlogs :)
