How to Apply for a UK Tourist Visa in the Philippines

how-to-apply-uk-visa-philippinesThis guide is for applying for a UK tourist visa in the PHILIPPINES.
If you need any other visa aside from a tourist visa, kindly check Google other blogs instead :)

Being a Philippine passport holder, you’ll just have to assume that you will be required to apply for a tourist visa in the Philippines for every single first world country you may want to visit. It’s the harsh reality, unfortunately. My U.K. visa would be the third time I’ll have applied for a tourist visa, so you’d imagine I’d have this entire process down to a tee.

I’ve applied for a Schengen visa through the German embassy (I’d write about it but they’re changing the visa application process starting August 1st 2015 — so my would-be post on the experience would be outdated) and a U.S. visa through the U.S. embassy, and both were quite difficult in the sense where, yes the requirements were easy but convincing them you won’t illegally live and work in their country was the tough part.

I found that the U.K. visa application process was the least stressful of the three. I kid you not. It’s also quite easy, you just need to be extremely detailed with your application because there’s no interview. Let me take you through the step by step process that I went through.

As a tourist, you will be applying for the Standard Visitors Visa — All the information regarding what you can and can’t do with the visa, required documents for the application and where to apply are all on the website I just linked. Do yourself a favor and click the link and explore it a bit. Study the information yourself. There will be no spoon-feeding or copy-pasting of information on this blog post because you can find it all on the official website. The purpose of my blog is to share my own experience with the application process. :-)

Filling up the Application Form

The website for filling up your visa application form can be found H E R E. You need to register an account because this is where your entire application and process will be kept on record for you to edit and keep coming back to as you please until you’re ready to book your preferred appointment, pay the fee (currently at 133 USD) and print the application for when you need to submit them in person.

Step-by-step guide on the website on completing your form: application, declaration, booking of appointment, payment, print application

July marked 3 months before my trip, so I started filling up my application form mid-June, giving myself time to really iron out all the details and gather all the documents I needed.

Be honest with your application form!

Fill up your form with all your details, if you’re not sure with some, you can skip them and continue on. Always save your progress because sometimes PH internet isn’t reliable. I’ve lost my progress once or twice and had to re-do some sections.

Employment & Income Section

Because I work as a freelance blogger, I was honest about my monthly salary being “not applicable” due to the fact that as a freelancer I don’t get a monthly salary. I will later on state that I’m attaching a letter of certification from my agency listing down my on-going projects to give the embassy/consuls an idea of how much I’ve been making this year, even though I don’t technically have everything in my bank account yet.

Income & Expenditure Section

Below is an example of the expenses for my 10 days in the UK:

(this all needs to be in British Pounds)

***Note: this is an example for my 10 days in the UK. DO NOT COPY THIS. Create your own breakdown of expenses. If you copy this blindly without matching it to your itinerary, you risk rejection of a UK visa***

After my breakdown of my expenses, I also stated that my grandfather will be helping fund my trip as a sponsor. All visa applications are a case-to-case basis and as I’ve mentioned earlier it’s so important to BE HONEST.

As a freelancer, my bank account doesn’t always mean I’ll have six figures in it. It’s true, the cost of my UK trip will personally cost me around 1,000 – 1,500 GBP. But during the time I applied, a lot of my pay checks haven’t come through. And so, I took the resourceful route and asked my grandpa if he’d be willing to lend me money for the trip just in case my paychecks don’t clear in time, and if they did, I would have extra cash sitting in my bank account in case anything happens. He agreed.

Yes, my entire Eurotrip is being funded by myself, but stating I was being “sponsored” isn’t a lie either… It’s just another way of telling the UK embassy that “Hey, I can afford to go to Europe (remember when I said earlier in this post that I had my agency write a letter with a list of my projects and earnings for the last 6 months? That’s how I proved I can afford the trip myself without needing to show my bank account), but my grandpa is also lending me extra money just in case what I have isn’t enough. You need not worry.”

Itinerary Section

Be as detailed as possible. If you’re touring, list down the places/museums/attractions you want to see and other cities you want to visit. I also created a separate itinerary with my day-to-day plans (nothing too detailed, but to give them an idea of what would happen on what days)

Additional Information Section

Before submitting your application, you get a chance to include any other information you wish to be considered as part of your application. I requested for a multiple entry visa and they actually gave it to me, so now we know they really do take into consideration whatever you put in this box.

Before confirming your entire application form, make sure you have everything right. Once you’ve clicked ‘confirm’ and digitally signed the form, you can no longer go back and edit it, you’ll have to start a whole new form all over again. When you’re absolutely sure there are no more details you need to fix or change, you can go ahead and confirm, then you can pick your appointment schedule at VFS Global and then proceed to pay your visa fee either online via credit card or bank deposit.

Documents I gathered before my submission date

(original & photocopies)

1. Printed Application Form
2. Current passport (6 months validity within travel period) + current visas
3. Previous passport + previous visas
4. My BIR Registration as a Self-Employed Professional
5. 2014 Income Tax Return (As proof that I earn and pay taxes like a law abiding citizen lol)
6. Letter of Certification from my agency stating my work and list of projects with them since January 2015
7. Sponsor’s Bank certificate
8. ID photos (following the requirements for the UK visa on their website — but most ID photo places know the requirements)
9. My Eurotrip Itinerary (the entire October trip, even though my UK trip is on the 19th-29th of Oct — I decided to be detailed with this because our PAL flight arrives at 9PM, forcing us to stay one night in London before going down to Paris on October 1st — also important emphasis on why I needed a multiple entry visa)
10. VFS Global Appointment letter (proof you’re submitting your documents on the right day)

On the day of my appointment at VFS Global

You will NOT submit your documents at the UK Embassy. VFS Global is the official agency (or middle-man) where you submit your documents. They have NO hold on whether you get granted a visa or not. They may ask you questions, but this is just to clarify the information you’ve placed in your forms.

It’s a very quick and painless process, you just submit your documents (I never got back any of the documents I submitted so make sure you’re willing to let go of the original copies, but if not then just providing the photocopies will do) and they will ask if you’d like to avail extra services like the SMS updates and courier service. I availed both which cost me a total of Php 650.00 (Php 500 for shipping + Php 150 for SMS text updates)

They will also take your biometrics which means a photo of your face + fingerprints. I had no idea that the photo they’d be taking that day would be the one they’d place on my visa. Thankfully, I did my makeup well that morning.

There is NO interview process unless the UK Embassy decides they want to see you and talk to you in person, but this rarely happens. I believe cases like this are for people applying for other types of visas. This is why you need to be as detailed as possible in your application because this is where you will be judged by the consuls at the embassy.

It took 7 business days for my visa to arrive.

Total cost of Visa + extra fees: Php6,650

Final tips:

  1.  A visa does not guarantee entry to the destination country which is why I’ve been emphasizing honesty in applying for visas and the reason for this is because the deciding parties for the visas and immigration at the airport are TWO ENTIRELY DIFFERENT SECTORS. What you present to the embassy must match what you will have to present to the immigrations officer should he ask for proof before you enter their country. And believe me, coming from the Philippines, you can be 90% sure they will ask for proof at immigration. (It happened to me when I landed in Germany in 2013) Just because an embassy grants you a visa does not give you the right to enter a country. An immigration officer at the airport is the final judge. If you lie in your application, you could get caught at immigration. For example:

You’re not confident about your bank account and so you decide to just lie in your application and state that you’re being sponsored by someone. This makes the embassy think, “Good, so you have funds and a means to survive in the UK/Europe/US.” and they grant you a visa. In reality, this person can’t sponsor you but you’re hoping your Php 30,000 will be enough for that 2 week trip (Hint: Unfortunately it’s not enough for two weeks. 30,000 will only cover the costs of 1 week accommodations, transport and food) Great right? You got a visa! Woohoo! So on the day of your trip, you arrive at Heathrow airport and an immigration officer decides to check if you actually have the funds for your two week trip. He asks for proof of cash on hand, bank statement, hotel bookings, credit cards, tickets to tours and attractions… But all you have to show is the Php 30,000 in your bank account. This is a red flag because realistically you can’t survive on Php 30,000 for two weeks. He can deny you entry and send you home. Your trip is over before it could even really start.

  2. There is no fixed amount required in your bank account. You just have to make sure that your itinerary fits your budget. Don’t claim to book five star hotels when your budget for the trip can only really afford hostels. The money you have in your bank account should match accordingly to your budget and travel lifestyle. My budget for my 10-day trip is Php 100,000 (including airfare). I included in my application that I will be staying in hostels (cheap accommodations that come with a free breakfast), and most of my tours will be sightseeing or free museums. London is highly expensive, but budget traveling IS possible anywhere, so keep it realistic.
  3. Do your research. It’s tedious but it will pay off if you can get details right in your application form. These consuls are experts and are trained to know what makes sense in itineraries and what doesn’t. To get an idea of how to create your budget for the trip, Google articles on the cheapest accommodations, daily transportation costs (tube, busses) and how much each of your meals might cost (breakfast, lunch, dinner) per day in the UK, then multiply it by the number of days you plan to stay there. Don’t forget to include the cost of tickets for some tourist attractions you want to see.

I hope my long blog post will help enlighten you regarding the UK Tourist Visa process! It was the most stress-free visa process I’ve experienced so far… I’m actually going through another visa process in two weeks at the French embassy and hopefully that one goes just as well!

If you have any questions for anything I might have missed, don’t hesitate to ask me at the comments below! :-)

Hi! Just wondering, after 7 business days, did you get an sms updating you your visa is ready or was it sent back to you without notification? I’m being extra paranoid because I know it says 15 working days but I’m on my 8th day but a lot of blogs says they got theirs on the 7th day.

        • Reply Camie Juan 14 October 2016 at 10:01 am

If you availed the SMS service then they’ll text you that its on the way to your house or something.

Hi everyone. This blog is very helpful. I wanna share my experience :) Last September 27 I submitted my application to vfs manila then yesterday my Visa arrived thru Courier . I just thought my application will bw denied since i have 3 mistakes in my application (minor only ) The addressed I input there is wrong instead West Yorkshire i input North Yorkshire . And also the wedding date. Supposed to be its Feb 2017 but i put Feb2016 . I lost hope that time since you cannot alter everything you write in your application but God help me those hard times. I always pray to God na sana e consider nila yun, After I recieved my passport yesterday I directly go to Baclaran Church and say Thanks to God. I cried yesterday while praying . Grabeh si God kahit ant hina ng boses sa pag pray pero rinig pa rin niya. PRAISE GOD. I guess 50x ko to binasa ulit at lagi ko research sa mga blogs kung ano mga experience nila. Thanks Camie :) God Bless Everyone :)

      Hi camie!
Thanks for your blog it is really helpful. And btw, I really need an advice. I have my friend in london who just recently visited me here in the phils 2 weeks ago. And she wants me to visit her there for a week and she will be sponsoring everything for my trip, food and accomodations(she has a place of her own with her boyfriend), for the plane tickets too. So basically she will be my sponsor for my trip. We are aware already that she needs to write a letter that she will be sponsoring my trip and she is also financially capable since she works in an airline company in uk. I was previously employed as a customer service representative in a call center company here in iloilo city for 4 months and then i got promoted as a new hire trainer just last week. I just graduated last april 2016 and so i still dont have much savings yet on my bank account and also because i just got promoted and i still havent signed for my contract yet for the new position. Just wanna ask if even so that my friend will be the one to sponsor me and that she can provide documents as a proof of financial capability. Does my bank account really needs to show i have enough savings? Is it fine if i present a show money cause although i am not financially capable yet base on my salary im getting every month, i can still bring enough money i need since my boyfriend will also lend me money for the trip. Since it’s just for a week and I don’t really need to spend for food and accomodation at all. Pls. Help me out with my confusion. I have been worried to apply for months now. Pls.

I’ve already gotten something like that but more like, “You don’t sound like you’re from the Philippines at all. You sound like an American” HAHA Which is understandable since for Asians the english language isn’t their native language. Most westerners will really be surprised, which doesn’t surprise me!

This post is very informative Camie. I’m just hoping to finally get my US papers done so I won’t have to worry about visas anymore! Carrying a Philippine passport can be very challenging. And I’m so sorry about your NBI experience. Government offices there are amazingly ineffecient.

Hi there, Camie! Thank you for posting such an informative article and timely as well! My LDR boyfriend and I are planning to have me visit there for a month in the UK and were already thinking about visas.

I just wanted to ask if it would be a setback that I would not be employed by the time I visit my boyfriend? I’m still a college student and I’ll be graduating right before my estimated trip date to the UK. My boyfriend will be shouldering the expenses and I will help with the expenses in the country proper from money I’ve saved up as a student from my parents. I’m just not sure how to go about the financial papers and evidence if I’ve never held a paying job before.

    • Reply Camie Juan 28 July 2015 at 10:08 pm

Your boyfriend will have to be your sponsor, which means he should show proof of income, proof he’s a resident of the UK, etc etc.

As for your proof, just proof of your savings. Maybe you can also ask your parents to act as a sponsor? Even if they can’t, just make sure you have enough money from your boyfriend to show at immigration if ever you’re granted a visa.

It will be tough though! Because you’re a young Filipina visiting her boyfriend (this could be a red flag because sometimes people end up living with their significant others and never come home), with no job to come back to… But be super detailed with your application and I think it’ll be fine! Do you have a history of travel too?

      • Reply Dani See 28 July 2015 at 10:13 pm

I do have a history of travel! I have made two trips to the States and two to Hong Kong, as well as once to Thailand and an upcoming Japan trip but never to Europe and also never without the aid of my family so I’m quite nervous about undertaking the visa process.

        • Reply Camie Juan 28 July 2015 at 10:16 pm

Well, the fact that you’ve traveled to the U.S. and all these other places is already a sign that your family is well-off enough to travel as a family! And that’s never cheap. So that’s a good sign :)

I think it would also be good if you could somehow get proof that you’ll be working here when you get home? Maybe you have a family business and you can have your dad write a letter saying you have a job position waiting for you. My dad did that for my first German Schengen visa :)

To Alissa, hi! Haha. Just wanna help :) Getting an AUS visa is really easy but you have to be careful of the details. For example, check your application form if it’s the recent one because they alter it every 3-6 months, i think. Haha. Just review everything thoroughly before you pass it as to not cause any delays in getting that visa. :)

    Hope it’s okay, Camie. :)

I’ll write one after I apply for my French visa though! :) Ive experienced applying at the German embassy but that was 2 years ago, and was a sponsored application so I dont think it would count much :)

Camie! I find your blog quite informative and helpful. Thank you! I’ve just started filling out my online application too. Please advice me? On “how long do you tend to stay in the UK?” section, I’m thinking I’d put “2 weeks” so they won’t expect too much from my bank statement (although I am to stay there for 6 months and might extend). Do you think that’s fine? What happens if I don’t leave the UK after 2 weeks though? I honestly don’t have much. I dint come from a well-off family either. But I do have a sponsor in the UK. Have you heard of aupair.com? That’s how I got this opportunity. I’ll babysit for them and they’ll shoulder my airline ticket to UK, food and shelter when I get there, plus allowance. I chose tourist visa type as suggested by my sponsor or host family. Apparently, being an au pair is not classed as a job because I’ll be given pocket money, not salary. Uhm. What do you think?

    • Reply Camie Juan 18 October 2015 at 2:21 pm

Personally I dont think you should lie. Also, if they give you six months, you should leave by 6 months and generally you can’t extend. I dont condone your choices so I really can’t help you right now. I’m sorry!

    • Reply Camie Juan 18 October 2015 at 2:23 pm

It is of course up to you, you can give that way a shot. Im just saying it’s your choice to risk it. I just hope you’re really doing it for the aupair experience and not to do any other illegal activities (although what youre doing is already considered illegal) like living in the UK as an illegal immigrant. Good luck!

      • Reply V E N I C E 18 October 2015 at 2:36 pm

Oh, no. When I said “extend” I meant I’ll be applying for a long-term visit visa when I get to UK so that I can extend my stay there for a year or so. I’m sorry for the confusion. If I put only “2 weeks” on the mentioned section though, just so they won’t expect for too much show money, but don’t leave the UK after 2 weeks, is that gonna be alright? Afterall, the visa will allow me to stay for 6 mons right? So.. What do you think?

        • Reply Camie Juan 18 October 2015 at 2:42 pm

As far as I know you can’t extend when you’re there. You went there on a tourist visa, so you need to apply from the country of your residence. Even so, if you try to extend there, what will be your reason for extending? To “tour” some more? If you say you found a job and let’s say you did, that’s also in the rules that you cant look for a job in the UK on a tourist visa so you would get denied. Anyway, it’s up to you. I already told you my opinion which was to not lie. If you really want an aupair job then do so with a country that ALLOWS it, so you’re not doing any of it illegally.

          • V E N I C E 18 October 2015 at 3:03 pm

Oh. I didn’t know that. It was my sponsor who suggested that we apply for a new visa to extend my stay when I get to the UK. But I’m okay with living there for only 6 months and will just reapply from Phils. I’m not planning to stay there illegally. I’m just worried about the show money required to qualify getting a tourist visa, hence, I wanna know if it’ll matter if I say I’ll just stay in the UK for “2 weeks” if the visa is actually going to allow me a “6-month” stay. Thank you for your response, Camie. I appreciate it.

It clearly says in their website to never book a flight unless visa is approved. How did you manage to do this? I have no problems on hotel bookings because you could easily cancel it. However, the flight reservation is really my concern. Thank you.

Look for a travel agency who can reserve for you. I have a friend who had it done for me, unfortunately they don’t normally do this so I cant recommend them to you right now. But other travel agencies can do them for you, sometimes for free even! Just look around.

Hi Camie. Thank you for this. Just a question, if my VISA application is denied, does that mean I threw away perfectly good money for hotels and airfare I prepaid for? I think it would be better to prepay everything so as to better reinforce my application for a tourist VISA. Hoping to hear from you. Thanks.

    • Reply Camie Juan 7 December 2015 at 10:18 am

You paying for everything before your visa gets approved does NOTHING for your application. Their website will even warn you not to book anything in advance. They dont care if you booked it, they only care id you can prove you can afford your trip and if you can prove you’ll come back. That’s it. Dont book anything until you get the visa.

What should i need to submit as proof that i have a cash on hand to support for my trip, aside from my paycheck in bank account? I have this travel funds i keep and not in peso currency (EUR). I didnt put it in the bank as I could get more profit if i keep it in non-peso currency until the time i would use it depends on exchange rates. And i found out it is super hassle to open a foreign savings account here in the philippines and banks usually deducting a tax if u wish to close your account and get all your funds. I am planning to apply for UK visa this month. I am keeping my fingers crossed :). thanks

Bank statements within the period of 6 months and bank statement are the proof that you have enough fund for the trip, in addition to that, is a proof that you have a strong ties in your country( e.g.Phil.) like marriage contract if you are married, employment cert, or other documents.. This is charged to my experienced.I hope these tips are helpful to you.

My querries can go to anyone who have experience in applying a London visa with my scenario.

I am going to married By Sep 2016 and we’re planning to spend honeymoon in London by Oct 2016. We have previous travel histories to Asian countries and my fiance has a multiple entry US visa and been there last year. Any advise if I need to prepare IDs with my married name or do i need to apply for a new passport to reflect my married name? Also, I guess I need to bring something as a proof of marriage in case our marriage certificate is not yet available.

Hope to hear from you soon!

To be safe, and since you seem like you have time, better to get those IDs with your married name. Always over prepare if you can. It’s better to be over prepared than missing documents :) Good luck!

Hello Camie! I read this blog thoroughly 5 days before my appointment to submit my visa application form and luckily, it was APPROVED after 7 days! Like, you’ve said be honest with the application form.

However, since I was sponsored by a known company there for a tourism purposes, contrary to all the requirements you have submitted, I only submitted bank account (not so much $$$ believe me), finished application form, letter from my sponsor and two passports (old and new) with full of stamps.
I think the approval is case to case basis, entirely what’s really your TRUE purpose. But, KUDOS to you for this wonderful write-up. Keep traveling!

Hello Camie, Thank you so much for this Informative Blog. I have gathered a lot of reliable information before I will have my Visa Application. I plan to apply this May 2016 and visit UK on June (if Granted). I have few questions though, hope you can lend a hand.
    > I have a friend who will sponsor my stay (2 weeks) in UK. Do I need to provide enough money in my own account? and How much would that be, roughly.
    > I have traveled Japan before 2005-2006, but then my passport was lost and expired already. Do I need to indicate in my application that I have traveled abroad before?
    > I am employed for 5 years but my Account has insufficient funds (as you know Payroll accounts normally become insufficient after salary day, lol). I am planning to deposit amount in my account like 3 months before I do my Visa application, will it triggers the Visa approval? I mean, Should the money sleeps in the bank like 3, or 6 months? Or does it really matter to have enough funds even if you have sponsor?

My visit to UK is purely a tour and meet my friend’s family.

Hope to hear from you very soon.

    Thank you very much
    Jocel

If you can provide proof that you make your own income aside from being sponsored, that would be better. That’s what I did. As per how much, I don’t really know the right amount. I just showed proof that I was earning through my freelance work. You can try not including a bank statement, but sometimes it’s really better to. You can try putting money now, not sure if that will really work, but it’s worth a shot. Good luck!

Hi Zane, before you submit your 2nd application, make sure to address the case officer’s reasons for refusal. Get a leave of absence from the school and provide enough evidence that you are a genuine visitor in the UK. Have you provided detailed itinerary and proof of genuine relationship with your bf? Those 2 are very important.

I’m hoping you can help me since i’ve read that you’ve already backpacked at europe before, so i’m planning to travel Europe for at least 3weeks or a month (in case my company allows me). I have a few concerns

    1. My first stop would be London i’ll be staying with my cousin for accommodation, does she still need to provide her bank account statement? If my own bank account is enough?)
    2. My parents would be depositing money on my bank account before I apply for visa just so I’ll have extra money in case for emergency. Do I still need to give the embassy a sponsors bank account?
I myself is employed already and working in bangkok.
    3. After london for 7 days, i’m planning to go paris-switzerland-italy-switzerland.
Should I apply UK visa first or Shenghen visa? And i’ve read that you said in Shenghen all I need is only reservation, does it include plane ticket reservation (only) going back too?

Also, i’m looking for your shenghen visa blog post but i can’t seem to find it. :((

Thank you so much, it would be a great help if you reply.

i am going to apply tourist sponsorship visa next week but I’m kinda nervous becoz i have no work but i have home-based small business, i didnt registered it to BIR becoz I’m doing it here at home only and my main reason is to earn some money to support my other expenses and my bf support me financially too. I am living with my family and have a piece of land in province, it is enough proof that i will comeback here in philippines before expiration of my visa? Thanks. This blogs helps a lot! Xx

This is very helpful. I have a question. We are planning a UK trip on Nov 2016. My passport will expire on Jan 2017. Should I renew my passport first before I apply for a UK tourist visa? Thanks.

    • Reply Camie Juan 31 March 2016 at 11:43 am

Yes. Your passport needs at least 6 months validity during your travel.

Hello. thank you for your write up. it is very informative. I hope you can answer my question. My two brothers and I are planning to go to London this christmas 2016. We are all adults. I understand that you need to create an account before you can fill out an online application form. Do we need to open a separate account for the three of us, or I will just open one account for myself and apply and pay for the online application forms of my two brothers as well. Thank you so much and hoping for your reply. God bless you.

    • Reply Camie Juan 31 March 2016 at 11:43 am

I believe you can use one account only! :) Kindly check, as I’m sure it’s there :)

    Hi Camie,
My friend would sponsor my stay from the accomodation to the daily expenses… I received an Invitation letter, Sponsorship Form, his payslips and all other docs required from someone who’d sponsor somebody else’s stay from him via mail already. He also offered to pay for my tickets and he indicated it on his letter of invitation. The money on my bank is worth as much as a roundtrip ticket. Do you think id be approved a visa with just that amount of money on my bank account? Or do i still have to improve my financials to show i can support my stay? Even though he actually would be supporting me…

    • Reply deehum 30 March 2016 at 3:35 pm

      Hi Lieza,

I got my visa today, and a friend (actually my boyfriend) sponsored me for all expenses, all the documents you mentioned, those are the documents I submitted, but I also include the following: Certificate of Employment, Certificate of Leave approval from my manager, 6 months payslip, Company ID, 2015 Income tax return, bank certificate (and I only have 50,123PHP on it). I got approved. All you really have to do is be honest with your application just like what Camie says here in her blog. Goodluck on your application. =)

        Hi Deehum,
Thanks for your reply it really helped me feel positive in applying. I just would like to know, if you declared your friend as your boyfriend. Also, if so, were you asked to prove that you were in a genuine relationship? I read something like that on the comments above. Do i send a screenshot that my friend (actually my bf) and i are in communication through skype daily?

        • Reply deehum 30 March 2016 at 4:11 pm

          Hi Lieza,

Yeap I declared him as my boyfriend, and in his invitation also he indicated as well that he is inviting me her girlfriend, and stated as well how long we have been together and how many times he has visited me. In the invitation he put this lines” I will completely support her throughout her stay'”.
What I included in my support as proof of our relationship are only pictures of us together, with my my family and friends (Only 10 pics actually).

Thanks bigtime! Last but not the least, does my departure day be really after 3months from the time i apply for a visa? Or can i request that it be the soonest possible time.

        • Reply deehum 30 March 2016 at 6:48 pm

Actually its in there rules, that you should apply within 3 months before departure, so for example you are planning to depart on July 11, you can only apply starting April 11, but if say you want to depart April 30, you can start applying now. Just note that the maximum processing time is 15 days, as for me it only took 9 days my visa was processed. =)

Hi! Just got a bit really confused with the 3 months rule. I intend to arrive in London on July 1. Does this mean I should have applied for visa BEFORE April 1 (which is 3 mos before my arrival) or START applying on April 1?

    • Reply deehum 4 April 2016 at 3:40 pm

      Hi Victoria,

This means, you can start applying already on April 1, you can even still apply 15 days before your expected travel, however this will be risky already.

Hello Guys, Good day to all,
Anyone can answer my query please.
I will vouch my application this month, ALL my expenses will be sponsored by my boyfriend. I also have my money in the bank which is around 50K pesos. What if my application is approved, then I will have my visa.. Can I use my money in the bank after my Visa is approved? I mean use it before my travel? then during my travel period 20K is left.. Will it trigger? Will it stop me from boarding? Will it cause any problems?

    Thank you in advance
    God Bless us all..

    • Reply Camie Juan 15 April 2016 at 2:17 pm

Yes you can use it, they wont check it anymore at immigrations. But they might ask if you have money for your trip, and if they do ask, you need to be able to prove that you do via cash on hand, atm cards or credit cards.

    Hi Camie!

Do you think it’s advisable to apply for a Schengen VISA if my trip would just run around 12 days?

    • Reply Camie Juan 15 April 2016 at 2:16 pm

You need to apply regardless of the duration of your trip, as long as you plan to actually go there. I applied for Schengen for 10 days and was granted before.

      • Reply Kits diaz 20 April 2016 at 10:01 pm

Thank you! I guess I’ll do the Schengen thing next time I visit :) One more thing, Im quite confused with the multiple entry visa. Hindi ba sya automatic that once your granted, you’ll have a visa valid for 6mos since thats what you are applying for? Do they have visas less than 6mos validity?

        • Reply Camie Juan 29 April 2016 at 2:29 pm

No it’s automatic na 6 months talaga. But its not automatic na multiple entry, you need to request for it and state why you want multiple entry.

I am planning to work continually when I am there while my auntie works and will tour UK during rest days and monthly vacation leave provided by my online company. I am planning to be honest enough to let them know this is my work. I’m not sure though if its okay to tell them that im still gonna work online during my stay with my aunt? As well, i don’t have any COE to show as online workers are considered independent contractors. I only have the original contract provided when I started with my online company. I really need your help in fear of being denied. Appreciate your inputs. :)

Also, incase, my mom will give me just few additional pounds to my trip, is it necessarily na kuhanan ko din sya ng bank certificate. she works abroad kasi, and parang bonus lang yung ibibigay nya sakin on the day of my trip. hehee.

Lastly, is 50GBP per day “purely for foods and drinks” enough? can it send me to cafe or fastfood mcdonalds-like or denny’s like fastfood already? i planned separate budget for oyster and entrances of tourist locations kasi. :)

Hi Camie! Me and my parents just submitted our requirements today. I didn’t stick the photos to the application forms as was indicated in the instructions. I was expecting the VFS personnel would ask for it but he didn’t. When I was trying to give him the passport photos he said hindi na raw kailangan so we proceeded to the biometrics. Medyo I got paranoid so I asked again and hindi na nga raw niya kukunin. Has anybody every experienced this? I was guessing maybe yung biometrics photo ang gagamitin nila for the visa. Last time I applied kasi in 2012 they still collected my passport photo and at the same time biometrics photo was taken as well.

  • Reply Vincent Fortuna 10 June 2016 at 1:15 am

Hi Camie, my name is Vincent and I went through your post couple times here and I followed your tips and advice! My UK visa application experience went smooth and easy as what you mentioned in your blog :) as for everyone who is currently looking at this blog.. just be honest with your application, every situation is totally different, mine is different but I wanna share my experience plus the timeline of my application:

I am currently situated in Toronto, Canada, currently have a Philippine Passport and have a Permanent Residency in Canada, I needed to apply to get my visitors visa for the UK to attend a wedding, again my situation is different but I wanna share to everyone here applying.

So I gathered all my documents and supporting documents needed: Current Passport, Old Passports, Current visa (US) & Expired visa, Letter from my employer (stating that my role, salary, duration of work and time off to visit the UK), Income tax 2014 & 2015, Bank Certificate, Payslips (covering 6 months), Wedding Invitation, Accommodation (reserved hotel) & Reserved Flights.

I paid for the priority service because of my upcoming travel plans so this is my timeline:

June 6, 2016 – my appointment at the visa4uk (Toronto) office 11:40 am / biometrics were done right away – took like an hour for my appointment, the officer examined my checklist and gave me options about return courier or pick up options for my passport.

June 7, 2016 – I received an email saying that the UK Visa and Immigration in New York Office had acknowledge my application and it is in queue for assessment or decision.

June 8, 2016 – received an email in the morning saying that my Visa has been printed and my application was successful and also saying that this afternoon they will ship it out.

June 9, 2016 (writing this today as we speak) – received my passport with printed Visa.

Took me 3 Business Days to get my Visa Approved.

For Priority Service is different, that’s why I wanna share this to anyone who wants to find out how fast the Priority Service is.

I’ve got some tips and advice that I also wanna share to everyone here so that your application would be easier:

    – I followed Camie’s instructions and advice here – and all of that are 100 % (THANK YOU CAMIE)
    – You have to be HONEST WITH YOUR APPLICATION
    – You have to Convince the ECO Officer that you have an Intention of coming back.. because that’s really important.
    – Intentions of coming back are: Letter from your employer, payslips, Income tax copies and bank certificate.
    – Bank Certificate (I only had $2,000 CAD in my account and that’s 72,000 pesos conversion)
    – Do not pay for your flights – there is an online reservation specifically for UK Visa and Schengen Visa Application.
I only paid $30 USD to reserve a flight http://schengenvisaflightreservation.com/hotel-bookings-for-visa/
and I got my itinerary in after 5 hours, also they do hotel bookings as well. – so you know, they are reserving it for you for flights or hotel and everything is 100% legitimate as they provide you reservation codes or confirmation for airline reserved. – thats what I used and just in case I didn’t get approved.

I just wanna share this! and again thank you Camie for sharing your advice, tips and experience! :)

Thank God found this blog! This is very informative. Anyway, Im planning to apply this 1st week of July as soon I as gathered all the documents needed for my application and intended to visit London this October 2016, which is my bf’s birthday. He sent me a letter of invitation and he stated that ideally he wants me to stay for 2 months at his house and accompany him at his friends wedding. Would there be a problem if I apply for 2 months stay? Or should I apply for 2 weeks only for his Birthday and not mention the wedding thing? And for my requirements, Basically my only monthly income is coming from my tenant with contracts and PDC as proof and some additional income coming from my online shop which I do sell 5-20k a month sometimes a week. The only proof I have is photos and money sent through my bank account and cebuana. Question is I don’t pay taxes for my online shop. Would that be a problem if I’ll declare my online shop?

    Thanks Camie!

And employed ako pero savings ko i thinks hindi sapat as proof that i can travel to UK but my sponsor is willing to send any documents for my VISA application. Would this help too?

      your answer would really help.

      Thank you so much :)

Hi everyone, tanong ko lang dun sa mga naapproved na, kasi dalawa yung savings acct ko. Yung isa, dollar acct then yung isa peso acct. =)

Hi camie, one last question. Kelangan ba match yung flow ng pera sa bank statement and sa payslips? Kasi yung payroll account ko, bukod pa dun sa peso savings na namention ko. Yung peso savings, yung money dun is from remittance. And dun sa payroll acct ko kinukuha talaga yung daily expenses namin so most of the time talagang minimum lang yung natitira dun. Kelangan ko pa ba magsend ng bank cert para dun sa payroll acct just to explain bakit hindi match yung payslips sa bank statement ng peso savings ko? Jan lang sa financial docs ako medyo nangangarag eh haha.

    • Reply Camie Juan 9 October 2016 at 9:24 pm

Personally I think its not a big problem. With the UK embassy, what’s important is you can afford your travel and still have money to come home and proof you will come home. Its normal naman rin for people to use their money for stuff and I don’t think they expect you to have untouched bank accounts. Good luck!

I, along with many other people, gave used VFS Global to apply. I got my visa didn’t I? :) It’s the only agency where you can apply. You cannot apply directly at the embassy. They will not entertain you.

    Hi Ms Camie,

Good day! tatanong ko lang if it is really needed na may itinerary na before applying for a tourist visa in UK? kasi i have a friend na bibisitahin dun and we haven’t booked any ticket yet until sure na talaga na ma.approve ang Visa na ko. And for the bank account kailangan ko ba talaga mag bigay ng proff kahit na sagot niya lahat ng expenses ko including food and house ko? at kung anong kailngan na documents na iprovide niya as proof na sagot niya lahata ng expenses ko.
By the way i’m currently employed and i have saving pero i dont know if it would be enough proof that i can afford to travel n the UK.
Yun lang talaga main concern ko about sa itinerary kasi bka kung may ticket nko a madenied yung application baka madouble pa gastos.

I would really appreciate your reply.. pleaassssseee..
    Thank you so much.

I also borrowed money from my parents for the showmoney.. what i did was open a time deposit account for 6 months which covers the duration of my trip (its like my second travel insurance/assurance to the British government).

now have to gather new documents for my schengen visa application.

My new one has few travel stamps but not as many as the stamps I had with my expired passport. What do you think I should do? Does it have any bearings for my UK visa approval?

But I was wondering what we’re supposed to put on the addressee on the bank certificate of my parents. Do I put VFS Global Philippines or do I put UK Embassy Manila?

Hope I can hear from you soon!

Hi there, I need help to understand my tourist uk visa. My visa issued on December 22, 2016. Also it says from December 21, 2016 until June 21, 2017. Number of entrees multiple and duration of stays is 180 days. My question – Is it June 21, 2017 is the validity of my visa and I have to leave the country before June 21, 2017 even I do not reach the duration stay of 180 days? Coz I’m planning to change my intended travel to April 1, 2017, so it means I have to leave June 21, 2017. What is 180 days then? I’m not sure with 180 days means duration of stay. Anyone can help me? Thank you.

    • Reply Pam 1 January 2017 at 5:05 am

It means that your visa expires on June 21,2017 so you have to leave UK on or before June 21 (best if before) regardless the days you’ve been there.

    hi Camie…
    I need advice
after 7 days I received my passport(actually today) and I was refused
My boyfriend (who is my sponsor who is a European will sponsor my trip) sad to say we failed to convince them,
we lacked documents to prove that he is capable of supporting me, and how genuine our personal relationship…and his immigration status… according to them.
We want to reapply, do you think it is okey and how I can convince them? can I get salary loan and put it in my bank account so when I make another application they can see I also have money to support myself in my trip to UK?
We want to meet his family in Bulgaria, but my bf wants me to stay with him in UK. He is a self employed there…

If you’re going to Bulgaria then you need to apply for a different visa. Unfortunately, I don’t know how else you can prove you’ll come home. The UK already stated there is lack of documents as proof he can support you during the trip, as well as his immigration status. You mentioned not having work here, that is also a red flag. I’m sorry.

      • Reply Arcelli 3 February 2017 at 9:15 am

I meant I have work, I am regular permanent… they considered my application, and documents I have submitted, I failed in proving our relationship.(coz it wasn’t listed on the checklist that they gave me)
I did some research as well..
I got an idea now, I need to provide proof of our relationship which I didnt submit on the 1st application. We are now preparing additional evidence for my reapplication.

I am happy you have this blog, it gives me information, and the comments here help me too…
got some ideas now on how to improve my next application.

Yup my first time last year to visit UK but prior to that me and my husband traveled few places in the neighboring countries. I think that also help. You should have a travel history..I applied for Family Visit Visa. I am married to a British national but we’re living here in Phil. We’re going to stay at my sis in law at that time during our visit. Her invitation was sent thru email.I just printed it. She sent me originals but I did not receive it. The post office here in our country is not reliable. My sponsor stated on her email that she sent by post bla bla and just hope her email will help.Everything from my sponsor were scanned copies sent thru emails. She sent me invitation letter, Passport and her mortgage. But all my personal docs were original like title..income tax..bank statements..certs..though they just asked me the photocopy of the land title and let me keep the original.I also attached some docs from my husband to back up my application. The gathering of documents were very tedious.Plus the waiting of the visa was nerve wrecking. Just be honest and be very detailed. God bless Girls..

          • Dina 2 February 2017 at 7:40 pm

I went to UK last 2015 and in Hongkong last March 2016. My sponsor plans to scanned all the documents including mortage, bank cert and invitation letter. Is that okay?

          • Hun 2 February 2017 at 8:45 pm

You should be okay..But my advice to everyone if you guys can get the original just submit the original. It’s hard to take chances.

Also, do i need to present anything regarding my daughter and my husband who are both Malaysian i.e. her birth certificates, marriage certs etc? Sorry for the chain of questions, getting paranoid Momma here.. thanks

Hi Venice! As stated in the UK Visitor Visa website, bring your original documents AND photocopies. If you cannot give the original, then just give the photocopy. The agents at VFS will note that they saw the original files as proof that you have them. If your husband and daughter are both PH passport holders then I dont think it matters if they were born in Malaysia? If they’re Malaysian passport holders, then I dont think this guide applies to you, because this is for PH passport holders only :)

I am confused.

  • Reply Arcelli 20 February 2017 at 1:50 pm

I think you have to state your expenses too
and tell them that you are going to London with your husband and he will shoulder all the expenses

Pls.

    • Reply Arcelli 25 February 2017 at 8:05 pm

      Jennelyn… just relax!
I want to share what I have done..
You have to submit both your bank statements (you and your sponsor)
then you have to prove that you know each other by sending your photos together during her visit to Ph, write the date and place where it taken, she have to provide copy of her passport, tenancy agreement or home ownership, her immigration status documents, detailed invitation letter,
on your part, you submit as well your employement record, payslips for 6 months, your passport, proof of your address and ties with your family

in her letter, she should mention that she will take the full responsibility of your expenses, travel costs, living expenses and accomodation

      start your online application!
      good luck jen…

Do you have pay this when you go to submit your documents at VFS? also you said you got your visa in 7days, did you avail any priority service to get it sooner? Thanks so much. I would rerally appreciate your reply. God bless

Yes, you pay this at VFS :) I didnt apply for priority service! That was the standard. I applied again last year around September I think, and I got it within 10 working days :)

I had applied UK Visa in February, I paid USD 110 Online.. I chose Standard.
then in VFS I paid 682.50 for the courier and text messaging…
then they will ask you if you to expedite and you’ll pay over the counter in vfs additional fee around 6000 pesos, in my case I didn’t go for it… so I didn’t pay additional and I got my visa after 10 working days.

UK Visa is different from Schengen Visa, I applied for France yesterday and I paid everything in cash. In UK Visa I paid it online

          Hope this help you…
          God bless you

Has your snoring prevented you from getting good sleep for years? If you have not seen a doctor about this issue, you might be experiencing a dangerous and serious form of snoring associated with sleep apnea. If this rings true, then try not worry!. The article below can help.

If you suffer from sleep apnea, you should use a Continuous Positive Airway Pressure machine while sleeping. This will help you treat your sleep apnea and get you on the path to having a full nights sleep. This machine uses either a face or nasal mask to pump air while you sleep.

If you have sleep apnea, try sleeping on your side. If you are a back or stomach sleeper, gravity is working against you all night. Your airway is much more likely to collapse if you are facing straight up or down. Sleeping on your side instead makes it much easier for your body to maintain your airway as you sleep.

If you suffer from sleep apnea, it is vital to avoid consuming alcohol before bedtime. Alcohol acts as a sedative, therefore, it will naturally slow down your breathing. In addition, it will relax all the muscles in your body, including those in your throat that help to keep your airway open.

Getting a CPAP machine is probably the best option for your sleep apnea. These machines will keep your airways open and help you breathe. You should talk to your doctor about CPAP machines and figure out which model would be the most adapted. This machine should work if you use it properly.

Get a chin strap to keep your mouth closed when you are sleeping with a CPAP or BIPAP machine. This minor fabric piece and make sure that your chin stays up and your mouth closed. CPAP machines do not function with open mouths, so a chin strap can really save you.

Should you suffer from sleep apnea, keep a regular sleep schedule. Your condition is already messing with your regular sleep cycle every night. If you can get on a better scheducle you will help your symptoms. The adjustment that is most important is your sleep schedule.

If you have been diagnosed with sleep apnea, it is important to avoid drinking alcohol. Alcoholic beverages will relax the muscles in your throat, which makes it more likely that they will block your airway during your sleep. At the very least, avoid any alcoholic beverages in the evening before you get ready for bed.

Minimize your risk from the conditions causing sleep apnea. Some sleep apnea risk factors cannot be changed, like genetic or hereditary reasons. But others, such as weight smoking and drinking, can be controlled.

There are several things that can trigger sleep apnea and there are many treatments. Since you have read this article, you have increased your knowledge about dealing with your sleep apnea. Pass this knowledge on to others whose lives may be affected by this condition. A great night of sleep is still very possible for you.

Heya just wanted to give you a quick heads up and let you know a few of the pictures aren’t loading properly.
I’m not sure why but I think its a linking issue.
I’ve tried it in two different web browsers and both show the same
    outcome.
